Strategic decisions for the future: University Senate consolidates a culture of integrity

On February 26, 2026, the members of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy Senate met in a session chaired by First Vice-Rector Olga Cernetchi, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Academic Management.

The First Vice-Rector has reiterated the priorities of university management, highlighting academic integrity and the continuous enhancement of the educational process and specifying that each member of the university community has the responsibility to comply with regulatory acts and to contribute to maintaining quality standards and professional ethics.

The senators' agenda included the approval of the curricula for three study programs that will be launched in the 2026-2027 academic year. Livia Uncu, dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, presented the 3-year bachelor's degree program in Medical Cosmetics and Cosmetic Product Technology, which aims to train competent specialists in the field of medical cosmetics and cosmetic product technology, in accordance with the current requirements of the health system, the cosmetic industry and the labor market. Diana Uncuta, chief of Pavel Godoroja Dental Propaedeutics Chair, presented the 3-year bachelor's degree program in Dental Nursing, which aims to train competent and responsible dental nurses, capable of meeting the requirements of the health system and the community needs. The new master's degree program in Health Promotion and Protection was presented by Serghei Cebanu, head of the Department of Preventive Medicine. The new study program has the mission of preparing competitive specialists for the labor market, who will provide qualified health promotion, prevention and education services, conduct scientific research and receive professional training throughout their lives.

Another topic addressed during the meeting resided in the achievements of Nicolae Testemitanu University students after taking the exams and tests in the first semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. In this context, head of the Didactic and Academic Management Department Silvia Stratulat offered several recommendations to the heads of didactic subdivisions: to apply training methods focused on the needs of the student, to analyze the quality and number of tests in the Didactic Module in SIMU, to evaluate the results of the student survey on the quality of teaching and to initiate corrective measures, as appropriate, to organize group or individual consultations for students with lower achievement rate, to update and develop methodological and didactic materials in accordance with the discipline curriculum and specific study objectives.

The university senators approved: the fees for pre-university, higher undergraduate, integrated, doctoral, residency and clinical secondary studies for international and stateless citizens, including for local students for the 2026-2027 academic year, and the doctoral projects for the national competition.

At the same time, the Senate members heard several reports on the following topics: students' practical internships in 2024-2025; results of graduation exams in residency and clinical secondary education, graduation year 2025; job distribution of graduating resident doctors (year 2025) jointly with the Ministry of Health; analysis of the Quality Management System and the realization of the Program for the implementation of the University's Strategic Development Plan for the period 2021-2030 in 2025; results of the external audit on the implementation of the ISO 37001 anti-bribery Standard; the Implementation Program for the Strategic Plan for 2026; activity of the Department of Continuing Medical Education in 2025; Report of the Moldovan Journal of Health Sciences (MJHS) for 2025 and the Activity Plan for 2026.

During the ordinary meeting, the senators discussed and approved a series of internal documents such as: Regulation on the organization and conduct of residency studies within the University; Regulation on the organization and conduct of admission to the clinical secondary studies; Regulation on video surveillance and managing the access to buildings through access control terminals within the University; Regulation on the organization and conduct of the "Doctor - through the eyes of a child" drawing contest, MJHS Journal Editorial Board and Register of reviewers nominal composition; Composition of the profile evaluation committees for the review and evaluation of the candidates files for Professor and Associate Professor scientific-didactic titles, etc.

At the meeting, the President of the Senate awarded the Doctor of Medical Sciences diploma to Ms. Veronica Cumpata, graduate of the Internal Medicine doctoral program, Gastroenterology Discipline.
